Baron is a neutered, red male Dobie rescued from Distinguished Doberman Rescue
Inc. (DDRI
www.ddrinc.net). Baron started out as one of our foster dogs but after
the gentle persuasion of Sue Szyklinski, president of DDRI, I agreed to adopt Baron.
Baron came to us 16 lbs. underweight, suffering
from Demodex, a type of mange with hair loss
and a checkered past making him hard to place.
Baron is definitely a high-energy Doberman, as
many Dobies are. He came to us lacking a lot of
the basic social skills, which are so much easier to
to teach to an 8-12 wk. old puppy, rather than a
78 lb, 1 year old dog.
Baron enjoys playing with my standard poodle Lulu, going for car rides, long walks, and
snuggling on the couch . Baron wants to be wherever I am. Poor Baron though, is easily
intimidated by our 4 lb poodle Pixie, and 5 lb rescue Chihuahua Boo. Though now a
whopping 95 muscular lbs. and still working out his
reactive behavior around unknown dogs, he is a real
pussycat with his pack, which includes the toy dogs,
cats, birds, human companions and visitors. He
sleeps on a big antique wing chair in our master suite
at night and likes to be covered with a blanket before he falls asleep (a carry-over from
his semi-hairless days). His favorite game is fetch and his favorite toy is his orange ball.
